This relay is specially designed for systems directly connected to the engine computer (EFI, engine computer, main power, fuel pump). The integrated diode blocks the back-EMF voltage spike when the relay switches off, and thus permanently protects the sensitive drivers in the ECU from burning out. Ordinary relays without a diode must not be used in these positions.
